Ruben Jaghinyan

Producer, co-founder of "Sharm Holding", President of the "Armenian National Film Academy" NGO, co-founder of the "Armenian National Music Academy"

 

Ruben Jaghinyan was born on April 28, 1969, in Yerevan. In 1994, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. From 1991 to 1994, he participated in the Higher League of KVN games as part of the Yerevan State Medical University team, and had won twice. In 1991, he co-founded "Sharm Holding" and served as its Chief Director until 2013. From 2005 to 2009, he led the "Yerevan" magazine project, and from 2006 to 2011, he headed the "Arts Management" course at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography. From 2013 to 2019, he was the Chairman of the Council of the Armenian Public Television and Radio. Since 2019, he has been the President of the “Armenian National Film Academy”.

 

Since 2005, Ruben Jaghinyan has been an academician at the International Academy of Television and Radio. Since 2006, he has been a member of the Armenian Union of Cinematographers, and since 2018, a member of the European Film Academy.

 

He has produced several social programs in collaboration with organizations such as USAID, UNICEF, UNESCO, and “Save the Children”. He has also collaborated on numerous projects with Russian TV channels (ORT, RTR, STS, etc.) and has been the executive producer of internationally acclaimed music projects, including “Yerevan Transit” (2006–2009) and “Armenian Jazz - 70” (2008).

 

During his career, Ruben Jaghinyan has been the executive producer of numerous successful feature films, including the “Our Yard” film series (1996, 1998, 2006), “Taxi, Eli Lav a” (2009), “Millionaire Needed” (2010), “The Fiancé from Circus” (2011), “Poker.am” (2012), “The Line” (2016), “The Line: 25 Years Later” (2017), “Dreams and Roads” (2017), “Our Yard: 25 Years Later” (2021), “Dragon” (2022), “Rosalie” (2023), “The Mistress of Fate” (2024), and more. He has also been the executive producer of documentaries such as” As Long as I Am” (2000), “The Sorcerer's Autumn” (2008), “The Story of One Photo” (2009), “Artists” (a 24-film series about prominent figures of Armenian culture, 2009-2013), and more. Additionally, he has undertaken feature-length animated films such as “Anahit” (2014) and “The Adventures of the Tsar” (2021).

 

Ruben has been involved in special projects, including “Songs of Special Purpose  dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, “Erebuni Yerevan” celebrations (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012), and the “Hay Hamerg” music project (2019), among others.

 

Ruben Jaghinyan has been the main producer of theatrical productions such as the “Spartacus” ballet (2009) staged by Yuri Grigorovich (Russia), the “Aida” opera (2010) directed by Mario Corradi (Italy), and the musical “The Bridge of Love” (2013), among others.

 

In 2007, he was awarded the "Garegin Nzhdeh" medal by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia for significant contributions to the establishment and strengthening of the National Army. In 2008, he received the "Movses Khorenatsi" medal for outstanding creative achievements in Armenian culture. In the same year, he was awarded the Gold medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia for organizing “Armenian Jazz - 70”. In 2009, he received the RA President’s Prize for contributions to the arts. In 2015, he was awarded the Medal for Services to the Homeland (2nd Degree). In 2016, he received the Order for Services to the Homeland, and in 2018, he was honored with the State Award of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Since 2024, he has been a co-founder and board member of the "Armenian National Music Academy."
